Digital Camera use & applications

"A new technology is rarely superior to an old one in every feature."
Digital cameras have advanced, and are advancing every day! There are many advantages and disadvantages with digital cameras, which are completely dependent on the individual! Modern digital camers are quite technological. You can view the picture you have taken, as soon as you have taken it! You can edit it, view it, save it, print it, all straight from your camera! Traditional cameras do not have these functions - you just take the photo, and then get it processed, then you can view it.
Digital Images can be stored, transferred and manipulated using the internet, email, photoshop and more!
Ethical issues that may arise with using digital cameras include informed consent, the responsibility of looking after images with other people etc in them. It is important that ethical issues are accounted for when using digital camers.
In Occupational Therapy, digital images are being used for many reasons. They are used to take photos of house modifications, to take photos to use for instructions. They are being used increasingly more as the functions they have are incredibly useful for an OT.

Flickr.com is a website that allows you to upload the photos you have taken and display them. www.flickr.com allows you to manage and share your photos. There are other sites like Flickr,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_photo_sharing_websites has a list of websites and what they do.

Digital and Optical zoom are two different terms used in technology. Optical zoom means that
the lens changes focal length and magnification as it is zoomed, retaining the image quality.
Digital zoom causes a loss in quality. It crops the image to a smaller size.

A megapixel (Pixel = PICture Element) is one million pixels. A pixel is a small square that makes up a picture!
